Felicity Jenkins Wins State Spelling Bee

All of Symmes Valley wants to congratulate Felicity Jenkins, a sixth grader, on her win at the State Spelling Bee on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. Way to Go Felicity!!!! We are very proud of her accomplishment and want to wish her the best of luck when she goes to Washington, D.C. to compete at the National Level. It is great to see a Viking representing the State of Ohio.

Grading Period Extended

PARENTS

Please note that the Third Grading Period has been extended by one week due to the inclement weather this winter. The Third Grading Period will now end on Friday, March 19, 2010 instead of Friday, March 12. Report cards will also go out a week later on Friday, March 26.

Students place 1st and 2nd at County Spelling Bee

Felicity Jenkins, who is a sixth grader, placed first in the county spelling bee for the third year in a row on Wednesday, December 9. Way to go Felicity! She will now go on to compete in the regional spelling bee in Columbus, OH in March, 2010. We will be rooting for her. Also Alec Steiding an eighth grader placed second in the bee. We are proud of both of these student's accomplishments and the effort they put forth to win.

Make Up Days

Pending approval of the School Board in the March meeting, March 29 through April 1, has been scheduled as make up days. These days were originally on the calendar as spring break but due to the weather this winter, school will be in session. Good Friday, April 2, will remain as scheduled. Other make up days will be posted as information becomes available.

All-County Band Honors

Middle school students, Angel Myers and Alec Steiding, were recently named to the Lawrence All-County Band. Congratulations to the both of you for this achievement.
